New Parent Information Quick Guide

Welcome to Sandlings Primary School. We know starting a new school with new procedures can sometimes be overwhelming, so this page is designed to give you a quick guide to important information that you will need to know to make transition for your child as smooth as possible. Quick links to important pages on our website have been highlighted. 

If you wish to apply for a place for your child/children at Sandlings Primary School you will need to complete two forms.

Please do not worry as part of our transition process class teachers will arrange to meet with you in the first week to go over everything! However, in the meantime, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Term Dates

We have compiled a handy information sheet for you, specific to each Key Stage with further imnprtant information. Click on the documents below.

School Uniform

Children are required to wear school uniform, this can be purchased from the school office. Click on the link below for the details of the uniform required.

Life Skills

As part of our school curriculm children take part in a life skills session once a week. The program runs on a 3 week cycle, and the students take part in Gardening, Forestery and Culinary Skills. For these sessions they will require additional equipment. 

Gardening - Wellington boots or Gardening shoes and gardening clothes. 

Forest Skills - A set of old clothes, Sturdy Shoes and in cold weather they will need a sweatshirt or fleece and a warm, waterproof coat. 

Culinary Skills - An Apron and a named sealed container. 

Swimming Lessons - As part of the national curriculm children in Key stage 2 will take part in swimming lessons during the school year. For this the children will require a swimming hat, swimming costume and a towel.  Parents will be informed when children are timetabled to swim as this varies over the course of the year.

Clubs

There are a number of extra curricular clubs that children are able to participate in, either during lunchtime or after school.

School Dinners

Children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 are entitled to Universal Free School meals, and can decide on a daily basis whether to have a school meal or a packed lunch. 

Children in Key Stage 2 can purchase school lunch from the Suffolk County Council provider Eats Catering. These meals need to be purchased a least 2 days in advance.
